Shimla: At least 11 people have been killed so far as heavy downpour continued to rock Himachal Pradesh triggering landslides, damaging property and inundating vast tracts of agricultural land.
While four people were washed away in flash floods in Nadaun on Friday, three more deaths were reported in Bilaspur as a car got washed away.
Shimla, Solan, Hamirpur, Una, Chamba and Mandi are the worst-affected places in the state. Traffic on the busy Shimla-Dharamsala highway has been suspended due to landslides.
A cloudburst occurred in Dehra area of Kangra damaging half a dozen cowsheds but there was no loss of human life, officials said.
While all rivers and their tributaries are in spate due to higher water levels, the MeT department has predicted more rain in the state in the days to come. The heavy downpour has also reduced the monsoon rain deficit from 36 percent to 27 percent in the last two days.
