Rain halts Delhi yet again

New Delhi: Heavy rain lashed the national capital since Wednesday night, flooding the streets and causing huge traffic snarls. Office-goers had a tough time reaching their destination with most of the roads waterlogged.

The Met office recorded 93.8 mm of rainfall.

Heavy waterlogging was reported from several parts of the city. The Delhi administration asked office goers to start early.

The Delhi government also issued an advisory, asking the public to avoid Dhaula Kuan and the roads leading to it.

There are big traffic jams across the city. Over the past few days the capital has been experiencing pleasant weather with temperatures hovering around 25 degrees. On Thursday morning it was 23 degrees.

Following are the areas witnessing huge traffic jams:

Savitri flyover, Bhikaji - red light, Madhuban Chowk, Shyam Nath Marg, Mittal Garden, Ashram, Moolchand

Severe waterlogging in the following areas:

Bhairav Road, Mathura, Purana Qula, Mtr Road, Ground Trunk Karnal, Moolchand, LSR, Nanakpura, Dhaulakuan, Lajwanti - Mayapuri Road, Shantipath Ringroad, Rafi Marg, Azad Pur, Lajpat Nagar, Bhajanpura bus stand, Baba Khadaksingh Marg, Under Moolchand, Chirag Dilli, Isbt Bus Adda, Kela Ghat, Hanuman Setu, Meerabagh, Beeragadi Chowk, Munirka, Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, Gupta Market Subway, Pusa Road, Subramanyam Marg, Chatrasal Stadium, Minto Road, Bhairon Road, Mother Dairy Crossing, Lakshmi Nagar, Greater 1, Aurobindo Marg, Adhchini, Qutub Institutional Area, Malaviya Nagar, Dhaulakuan.

The routes to the airport are clear now. Some flights were delayed in the morning as crew members could not reach the airport due to traffic congestion caused by the rain.

Met officials have said that there are no indications of the monsoon withdrawing from the country at present.
