Rain wreaks havoc in Konkan region; many trains cancelled

Ratnagiri: Heavy rainfall disrupts normal life in the Konkan region and in Ratnagiri in Maharashtra.

Konkan Railways has been badly hit with many trains cancelled on the route after the ground under the tracks caved in near the Nivsar station. Many long distance trains have been cancelled too.

Ernakulam-Ajmer Express has been stranded for the last eight hours at Nivasar station. The train is stranded at the site of the landslip since Saturday.Trapped Passengers had to be  transported by Konkan Railway in buses. Passengers complained that they were not informed of what has happening.

Meanwhile, the Konkan Railway PRO Siddheshwar C Telugu has told NDTV that, they are trying to restore the tracks as soon as possible. He also added that the continuing rains were hampering their efforts.
