Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa called Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday over the situation in Lanka.
Over the phone, Singh expressed concern about the deteriorating situation in Sri Lanka.
He has also inquired about the situation of Tamil civilians in the island country and asked if relief is reaching to all those who need it.
On Friday, DMK MPs from Tamil Nadu handed over their resignation letters to party chief M Karunanidhi in Chennai over the issue.
