Rajasthan, it seems, will stick to its parampara (tradition) of voting out the ruling government as trends show the BJP in a big lead over the ruling Congress.
At 12:30 pm, the BJP was leading in 111 seats, while the Congress was at 73, showed trends.
'Modi, Modi' chants and smiling faces greeted the NDTV correspondent at the BJP leader Diya Kumari's office as the lead started to build up.
Diya Kumari, a likely Chief Minister candidate, "It was the woman factor that played a key role apart from the Modi factor". She also claimed that the "Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh results have set the tone for general elections".
When asked about who could be the Chief Minister candidate from the BJP, "We have left the decision to the High Command as far as the choice of Chief Minister is concerned".
Rajasthan, despite its habit of swinging between the Congress and the BJP for three decades, threw up a surprise in 2018 by denying either party a majority. The Congress, one short of 101 in the 200-member house, had formed the government with support from Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party.
