A Rajasthan University professor has been nominated for France's highest award Legion d'Honneur for her outstanding contribution to French education and culture in the state.
Dr Asha Pandey, Associate Professor of the Foreign Language Department of Rajasthan University, has been nominated by the French President for the award, an official release said in Jaipur on Tuesday.
Indians honoured with the award earlier are legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray, sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and noted environmentalist R K Pachauri.
Instituted by Napolean Bonaparte in 1802, the order is the highest decoration in France.
