Jaipur: The statement of the 35-year-old woman, who has charged former Rajasthan Minister Babulal Nagar with rape and assault, will be recorded today.

On a petition filed by state CID-Crime Branch, the Additional Civil Judicial (Junior Division) and Judicial Magistrate directed the prosecution to produce the woman before the court for recording of her statement under Section 164 of the CrPC, a police spokesman said yesterday.

The CID crime branch probing the case, meanwhile, has handed over the clothes of the woman to the Forensic Science Laboratory for examination.

The woman had alleged that the former Minister of State for Dairy and Khadi, who had helped her in the past, called her to his official bungalow in Civil Lines on September 11, promising to get her a job. On some pretext, the minister took her into a bedroom and raped her, she said.

"When I protested, he clamped his hand down on my mouth, hit me and assaulted me," she said, claiming that the politician then threatened her of dire consequences if she disclosed anything.

The Sodala police had booked Mr Nagar and referred the case to the CID crime branch as it involved a sitting MLA.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva yesterday accepted Mr Nagar's resignation as minister, on the recommendation of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
