Indian Railways has unveiled a new-look Rajdhani Express with 'Swarna' Coaches. From CCTV cameras, LED lights, 'auto janitor' systems in toilets, new night signage and more pockets for storage, the railways promise a vastly improved travel experience for passengers. New coaches, upgraded at the cost of Rs 35 lakh, debuted in the Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, a railway official said . A tweet by the Railways Ministry yesterday declared a "Major Leap in Improving Passenger Experience on Rajdhani Trains". It added that 14 Rajdhani trains and 15 Shatabdi trains would be upgraded under what it calls "Project Swarna".

New Look:The coaches get a new interior paint with a refined colour scheme to please the eye.
Rajdhani Express trains get upgraded toilets
Better toiletsToilets have 'auto janitor' systems that feature automatic cleaning and deodorising. These are equipped to kill germs and provide an odour-free experience. The toilet doors have vinyl wrapping and there's epoxy coating inside.
Faucets, stainless steel washbasins, improved soap dispensers, better quality dustbins have also been introduced. The location and placement of these have been carefully chosen for ergonomic convenience, said an official.
Rajdhani train gets LED lights for better illumination
LED lightsLED lights have been introduced for better illumination. The lights have been placed over the mirrors too.
Bags with extra pocketsNewly-designed bags have been introduced in the coaches which will have extra pockets to store mobile phones.
Night signageFor ease of identifying one's berth during the dark, special night signage has been fitted.

For heightened security and monitoring, CCTV cameras have been introduced in the doorway area.
Ladders for first AC coaches
In the first AC passenger coaches, in-built ladders have been placed that makes access to upper berths easy.
The upgrades will soon be extended to three more trains of the Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani and two trains of the Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani and the Howrah-Ranchi Shatabdi Express, a railway official said.
