The Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University, aimed at facilitating and promoting aviation studies and research, will start functioning "very soon" at Fursatganj, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju has said.
Inspecting the Indira Gandhi National Aviation Academy at Fursatganj, around 50 kms from Amethi, yesterday, Mr Raju said, "Very soon the proposed university will start functioning".
Responding to Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's allegation that Amethi and Raebareli are being neglected by the NDA government, he said, "This question must be raised before Rahul Gandhi himself. He may clear it better".
Over shortage of training aircraft in the country for trainee pilots, the minister said that the ratio between the number of trainee pilots and the aircraft will be improved soon.
Earlier, the minister also visited different sections of the academy and directed the concerned staff to improve facilities.
Director of the academy, VK Verma, apprised the minister with latest developments.
