Amethi:
Ram Sevak, a nine-time MLA from Jagdishpur, died at his ancestral home at Musafirkhana town in Amethi after prolonged illness.
He was 92 and is survived by four daughters.
"He was not keeping well since few months and passed away last night. He will be cremated today," said Mr Sevak's grandson, Radhey Shyam, and MLA from Jagdishpur in Amethi district.
Ram Sevak first won the assembly polls in 1969 on the ticket of erstwhile Jana Sangh from Jagdishpur (reserved) constituency.
He later joined Congress and barring in 1977, he won for eight times again from the same constituency.
The MLA was known for his simple lifestyle and always used to travel by state transport buses.
