Ramalinga Raju moved from jail to hospital

Ramalinga Raju moved from jail to hospital
Hyderabad:

Former Satyam chairman, Ramalinga Raju, is in a Hyderabad hospital after he complained of chest pain. Doctors say he is in stable condition. Raju turns 56 on September 16.

Ramalinga Raju was brought to the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) on Monday evening after he complained of chest pain at Chanchalguda jail which has been his home for nearly eight months now. Doctors say his condition is stable. They  want him to be under observation and medical management at the hospital's Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU) for a few days.

"He is undergoing all diagnostic tests. We will submit a detailed report to jail superintendent," says N Satyanarayana, Superintendent, NIMS.

Raju is in jail in connection with a Rs 8,000 crore corporate fraud. He was brought to NIMS twice in the last week of August because of a Hepatitis C infection.

He is staying in a VIP room of the ICCU with his wife Nandini. Whether Raju's medical condition will influence the court's decision on whether he can undergo a lie-detector test is an open question.
