A team of Mumbai Police today visited the residence of YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as the BeerBiceps Guy, following the controversy surrounding his comments on comedian Samay Raina's show 'India's Got Latent'.

Multiple complaints have been filed against 31-year-old Allahbadia, who had apologised on Monday after massive backlash. 

A case has also been filed against other contestants on the show, including Samay Raina and Apoorva Mukhija, known as the 'Rebel Kid' on social media.

The episode featuring the comments by Ranveer Allahbadia has been taken down on YouTube and a Parliamentary panel on information technology is discussing whether to summon the podcaster.

Complaint Filed Against Ranveer Allahbadia In Indore

A complaint was filed at a police station here on Tuesday against social media influencer Ranveer Allahbadia over his 'obscene and vulgar' comments in comedian Samay Raina's YouTube reality show "India's Got Latent", the police said.

No First Information Report (FIR) has been registered yet, said Tukoganj police station in-charge Jitendra Singh Yadav.

The complaint was filed by Aman Malviya, a local lawyer, Yadav told PTI.

"No case has been registered. The complaint will be investigated and after that appropriate action will be taken," he said.

Malviya said Allahbadia, Raina and other celebrities who featured in the show crossed all limits of indecency by misusing the freedom of expression.

“Crossed Limits, Need To Be Punished”: Shiv Sena Leader On Ranveer Allahbadia

Speaking on the case against Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina, Shiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande said it was "vulgar comedy". She also said that they "crossed all limits" and should be punished. 

"Time and again people have been speaking for censorship for OTT platforms and such YouTubers and comedians. It was vulgar comedy. I think they have crossed all limits. such people need to be punished. There should be censorship on them," she told the news agency ANI.

Women's Panel Calls For Action To Curb Obscene Content Amid Ranveer Allahbadia Remarks Row

Amid backlash over Ranveer Allahbadia's remarks, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has called for immediate action to curb obscene content on social media streaming sites and OTT platforms.

Vijaya Rahatkar, the Chairperson of the NCW, penned a letter to Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, in which she highlighted the need to enforce stringent censorship and content moderation systems.

The Commission highlighted the "violation of multiple legal provisions, including the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the Information Technology (IT) Act, among others. Such content not only perpetuates harmful stereotypes but also poses a direct threat to the safety and dignity of women and children."

The NCW has urged the Ministry to take swift action by issuing strict guidelines that prevent platforms from streaming or allowing users to upload inappropriate or obscene content. The Commission called on the authorities to enforce stringent censorship and content moderation systems to protect the public from exposure to harmful material.

Singer B Praak has said he has called off an appearance on Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast after his remark on a reality show sparked controversy.

In an Instagram video, Praak on Monday said, "I was supposed to appear on a podcast, on Beer Biceps, and we cancelled that. Why? Since we are all seeing how pathetic his thinking is. The choice of words that he has used on Samay Raina's show."
