Maharashtra Cyber Cell filed a case against the YouTube show 'India's Got Latent'. A case has been filed against a total of 30 to 40 people.  A case has been filed against all the people who were involved from the first episode of the show to episode 6. The process of sending notices to everyone has been started.

The National Commission for Women has summoned YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina and others over derogatory remarks. The hearing has been scheduled for February 17.

A complaint was filed at a police station here on Tuesday against social media influencer Ranveer Allahbadia over his 'obscene and vulgar' comments in comedian Samay Raina's YouTube reality show "India's Got Latent", the police said.

No First Information Report (FIR) has been registered yet, said Tukoganj police station in-charge Jitendra Singh Yadav.

The complaint was filed by Aman Malviya, a local lawyer, Yadav told PTI.

"No case has been registered. The complaint will be investigated and after that appropriate action will be taken," he said.

Malviya said Allahbadia, Raina and other celebrities who featured in the show crossed all limits of indecency by misusing the freedom of expression.

Speaking on the case against Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina, Shiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande said it was "vulgar comedy". She also said that they "crossed all limits" and should be punished. 

"Time and again people have been speaking for censorship for OTT platforms and such YouTubers and comedians. It was vulgar comedy. I think they have crossed all limits. such people need to be punished. There should be censorship on them," she told the news agency ANI.

Amid backlash over Ranveer Allahbadia's remarks, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has called for immediate action to curb obscene content on social media streaming sites and OTT platforms.

Vijaya Rahatkar, the Chairperson of the NCW, penned a letter to Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, in which she highlighted the need to enforce stringent censorship and content moderation systems.

The Commission highlighted the "violation of multiple legal provisions, including the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the Information Technology (IT) Act, among others. Such content not only perpetuates harmful stereotypes but also poses a direct threat to the safety and dignity of women and children."

The NCW has urged the Ministry to take swift action by issuing strict guidelines that prevent platforms from streaming or allowing users to upload inappropriate or obscene content. The Commission called on the authorities to enforce stringent censorship and content moderation systems to protect the public from exposure to harmful material.

YouTuber Gaurav Taneja, popularly known as Flying Beast, has reacted to Ranveer Allahbadia's inappropriate jokes and remarks during his appearance on comedian Samay Raina's 'India's Got Latest' show.

An episode of Samay Raina's show 'India Got Latent' on YouTube, featuring crass comments by Ranveer Allahbadia, has been blocked following orders from the government.

"The 'India Has Latent' episode on @YouTube with obscene and perverse comments by Ranveer Allahbadia has been blocked following Government of India orders," Kanchan Gupta, Senior Adviser, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, said in a post on X.

A day after a police case was filed against Ranveer Allahbadia and others in Assam over the YouTuber's crass comments on comedian Samay Raina's "India's Got Latent" show, a senior cop told NDTV that they are "in touch" with the Mumbai Police.

Guwahati Joint Commissioner of Police Ankur Jain also said that the accused will be issued notices and summons in "due course of time".

Amid the backlash over podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia's crass remarks at a roast show, a video of poet-lyricist Javed Akhtar sharing his perspective on whether slang is acceptable in comedy has gone viral.

Singer B Praak has said he has called off an appearance on Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast after his remark on a reality show sparked controversy.

In an Instagram video, Praak on Monday said, "I was supposed to appear on a podcast, on Beer Biceps, and we cancelled that. Why? Since we are all seeing how pathetic his thinking is. The choice of words that he has used on Samay Raina's show." 

Allahbadia has over 10 million subscribers on his YouTube channel where he hosts his podcast "The Ranveer Show".

Priyanka Chaturvedi, Rajya Sabha MP from Shiv Sena (UBT), has said she would raise the issue of Ranveer Allahbadia's controversial remark. 

"Any abusive language in the name of comedy content crosses limits is not acceptable . You get a platform, that doesn't mean that you will utter anything. He is someone with millions of subscribers, every political has sat in his podcast. PM has given him an award... As a member of standing committee of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, I will raise this issue," she has said on X.
