Three women officers who were tasked with receiving any rape complaint during the Jat protests visited Murthal near Sonepat today where the alleged incident occurred.
The three-member team led by DIG Dr Rajshree Singh and two other officers, Bharti Dabas and Surinder Kaur visited the spot, around 50 km from Delhi, to gather first-hand information about the alleged incident.
Asked about recovery of some innerwear at Murthal on the Delhi-Ambala National Highway, Dr Singh told reporters, "These (innerwear) had been sent to Forensic Science Laboratory for examination".
"We appeal to all citizens who have any clue to forward. They should meet us and tell us whatever they have seen, they should share with us all details and we will try to bring out the truth," she said.
The state government had yesterday said it would act "swiftly" as and when it receives complaint on alleged sexual assault during Jat agitation.
The police had said that no one has been able to confirm the mass rapes that allegedly took place late on Sunday night; no witnesses have come forward, no complaints have been made and villagers have said nothing.
Punjab and Haryana High Court had taken suo motu cognisance of a media report which had said that cars were stopped by a mob of 30 and at least 10 women were dragged out and raped in the fields. The cars were allegedly set on fire.
The court had asked the Haryana DGP and Home Secretary to submit separate detailed report on this incident.
