Kochi, Kerala: Rear Admiral Grewal, who was commissioned into the Indian Navy in July 1984, is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and a post graduate from Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.
He has also attended the Naval Higher Command Course at College of Naval Warfare, Karanja and Naval Command Course at Naval War College, US.
A specialist in navigation and direction, he has held various staff and command assignments during his naval career spanning three decades, the release said.
Rear Admiral SK Grewal has assumed charge as the Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST) under the Southern Naval Command.
His charter includes conduct of operational sea training for all the ships of the Indian Navy and Coast Guard by enhancing crew proficiency in all aspects, including safe navigation practices, damage control and fire fighting drills, weapon firings as well as seamanship training, a Navy press release said on Saturday.
Earlier he was the Chief Staff Officer in charge of operations of the Eastern Naval Command, Visakhapatnam, the release said.
He has also attended the Naval Higher Command Course at College of Naval Warfare, Karanja and Naval Command Course at Naval War College, US.
