Mumbai: On Thursday, the Hindi film industry was shocked by the sudden death of Bollywood's favourite on-screen mother and veteran actress Reema Lagoo. She worked in blockbusters like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), Maine Pyaar Kiya (1989) and Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994). When actor Aamir Khan heard about Reema Lagoo's sudden death he rushed to pay his last respects to the actress. They worked together in his debut film, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and Rangeela (1995). Aamir Khan, who was accompanied by his wife Kiran Rao, was emotional and heartbroken by the news of her passing away. Speaking to the media Khan said, "This is very sad, it happened all of a sudden and we are in a state of shock because she was not suffering any ailment. My first film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was with Reemaji, she was a great actor."
Aamir Khan also spoke about her off-screen work on the Paani project. He added, "Reemaji had a very clean heart. She was a socially conscious person and she did a lot of work with us on the Paani project. She was leading ahead in the project and doing so much more than all the youngsters. I pray that her soul rests in peace." Aamir, Kiran and his ex-wife Reena Dutta attended Ms Lagoo's funeral on Thursday.

She was earlier married to Marathi actor Vivek Lagoo. The couple have a daughter, Mrunmayee.
