Efforts were also on to take online registration for Staff Selection Commission to 100 per cent.
New Delhi:
Registration for various competitive examinations under Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has made 100 per cent online in a bid to ensure transparency, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
Efforts were also on to take online registration for Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to 100 per cent from present 95 per cent, Minister of State for Personnel and Public Grievances Jitendra Singh said during Question Hour.
Replying to supplementaries, he said with regard to online registration for competitive examinations, the government had initiated a series of reforms during the past 18-20 months.
He said there has not been a single grievance in connection with online registration for the UPSC, while directions have been issued to Deputy Commissioners to take adequate measures in case of complaints from candidates to check any difficulty faced by those registering for the Staff Selection Commission exams.
"Online registration procedure has been initiated to bring in transparency in the process of selection, to provide level playing field to all candidates and to simplify the procedure," Mr Singh said.
Earlier, Bhupinder Singh (BJD) questioned the efficacy of the system saying when the internet system did not work properly in cities like Delhi, how could it function in remote areas. He also urged the government to solve the problems of candidates residing in far-flung areas.
Mr Singh stressed that the government has initiated steps to augment the system and said there was no move to do away with the online registration system
