New Delhi:

Actor-turned politician Rekha was seen in Rajya Sabha for brief period today, attending the house for the first time in the current budget session.

Clad in a light cream-coloured saree, she was seen in Rajya Sabha for 10 minutes during the zero hour.

Sitting at her designated seat with other nominated members, she was also seen talking to Anu Aga, NK Ganguly and HK Dua.

She had attended the winter session once and the budget session last year once.

Nominated to the upper house in April 2012, Rekha has four per cent attendance according to PRS Legislative Research against national average of 78 per cent.

Her colleague, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who was nominated along with the actor, has six per cent attendance according to PRS Legislative Research.

As per article 104 of the constitution, if a member is absent from either house of parliament for a period of 60 days, then the seat is considered vacant.

Both Rekha and Mr Tendulkar faced criticism from fellow members in the upper house last year who pointed at their long absence.
