New Delhi:
In the wake of reports in a section of the media that the Liberhan Commission has indicted top leaders including former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for the Babri Masjid demolition in 1992, the BJP has strongly criticised the Centre over the leakage of the report.
The BJP says it wants to know why the report has been leaked now. This is the government strategy to divide the Opposition and to deflect the attention from more significant issues, the party says.
"The whole attention was on sugarcane prices. So, the report was leaked to deflect attention from that," says BJP spokesperson Prakash Javdekar. Other top BJP leaders indicted in the report are L K Advani and Murli Manohan Joshi.
Javdekar also said the party was sticking to its stand on the Ram Temple issue and would wait for the actual report and content of the Action Taken Report (ATR).
