A female adult rhinoceros was killed on Friday and its horns removed by suspected poachers in Assam's Kaziranga National Park.
On hearing gunshots in the early hours near Borboribil forest camp, patrolling forest guards conducted a search and came across the carcass of the rhino with its horns removed, a senior park official said.
The security forces seized five empty cartridges from the spot, he said.
This is the ninth rhino killed by the poachers this year, he said.
