Lucknow:
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati wants to stay one-up on the Rita Bahuguna Joshi controversy.
A case has been registered against two BSP leaders on charges of setting fire to Rita's house in Lucknow on Wednesday night. The two leaders named in the FIR are Lucknow BSP chief Intezaar Ali and Jitender Singh Babloo. Rita Joshi in her complaint to the police had named the latter.
Meanwhile, Rita Bahuguna Joshi's bail plea comes for hearing on Saturday. The bail plea was postponed on Friday as lawyers in Moradabad court were on strike.
Rita is in 14-day judicial custody for making derogatory remarks against UP Chief Minister Mayawati. Joshi is booked under the SC/ST atrocities prevention act, which is non-bailable.
Mayawati and Rahul Gandhi raked up hostilities between the BSP and Congress on Friday, flinging hard-hitting remarks at one another.
