A local RJD leader, Vinod Yadav, was shot dead by unidentified men in Bihar's Bhagalpur district this morning.
Mr Yadav's nephew has been named as the main accused in the case, an officer said.
The RJD leader, who was facing 22 criminal cases, was out on bail.
