RK Pachauri Trying to Influence Witnesses, Police Tells Delhi High Court

New Delhi: Environmentalist RK Pachauri, who has been accused by a researcher of sexual harassment, is not cooperating with the police, the Delhi High Court was told today.

The police told the court in its status report that Dr Pachauri, the founder of The Energy Research Institute or TERI, is influencing witnesses. The police made the points in a status report to the court.

The court said it would decide on September 30 the complainant's petition seeking cancellation of Dr Pachauri's anticipatory bail which was granted by a a lower court in March.

Dr Pachauri, 75, was forced to resign from the United Nation's climate change panel; as its chairman, he had received the 2007 Nobel peace prize.

A 29-year-old woman who worked as a researcher in TERI claims that Dr Pachauri began harassing her soon after she joined the non-profit think-tank in 2013. She has submitted hundreds of text and WhatsApp messages that she says prove that she was sexually harassed.
