India is constructing and upgrading roads along the borders with Bangladesh, Pakistan, China and Nepal and plans similar action along the India-Bhutan and India-Myanmar border as well, the government told the Lok Sabha today.
Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said construction and upgradation of roads of 4,379 km along India-Bangladesh border has been going on.
Such a project is also being implemented in 689.95 km along the India-Pakistan border, he said during Question Hour.
Construction and upgradation of roads is also going on in 3,796 km along India-China border and 1377 km along Indo-Nepal border, the minister said.

Giving a break-up of funds allocated during the last three years (2012-13 to 2014-15) and current financial year, Mr Rijiju said Rs 353 crore were spent on the India-Bangladesh border, Rs 374.93 crore on the India-Pakistan border, Rs 5,029.28 crore on the India-China border, Rs 1,800 crore on the India-Nepal border, Rs 150 crore on the India-Bhutan border and Rs 11.11 crore on the India-Myanmar border.
As on November 30, 2015, construction work has been completed on 3560.76 km roads along India-Bangladesh border, 397.76 km along the India-Pakistan border, 2259.48 km along the India-China border and 36.78 km along the India-Nepal border, he said.
Construction of border roads along the India-Bhutan border has not yet begun while development of roads along the India-Myanmar border is at prefeasibility stage, Mr Rijiju said.
