Rocket Launcher, AK-47 Among Arms Seized In Police Raid In West Bengal

Police found arms after raids on locations as confessed by alleged arms dealer arrested in West Bengal.

Purulia, West Bengal: Police today recovered a rocket launcher, an AK-47 assault rifle and ammunition from West Bengal's Purulia district in raids after the arrest of an alleged arms dealer.

Police said they have not yet found any terrorist links and a Criminal Investigation Department or CID team was investigating the case.

"On July 24 we had arrested two people on suspicion that they were selling arms illegally. We had got them on remand and they revealed to us that they had dumped some arms at a hidden location. We raided that place and made these recoveries. We have not found any terrorist links so far," Superintendent of Police Rupesh Kumar told NDTV.

Rathu Pramanik and Jamaluddin Ansari were arrested for illegal possession of arms and the police at the time had recovered a carbine sub-machine gun and two rounds of ammunition from their possession.
The Purulia Arms Drop case of 1995 had taken place in the same area but it was not known at the moment if the two incidents had any connections, police said.
