New Delhi : Senior advocate Rohinton Nariman is all set to be appointed as the new Solicitor General, the second senior most law officer of the government, a proposal to which he has given his consent.
Son of eminent jurist Fali S Nariman, the 55-year-old Nariman, was in the race for the post after Subramanium resigned as Solicitor General.
Ironically, Gopal Subramaniam had resigned to protest the move by Kapil Sibal to field Nariman appointed as special counsel to represent him in the Supreme Court in the 2G spectrum allocation case.
Nariman successfully argued the case and the application was thrown out by the apex court at the admission stage.
