Rohtak college administrator allegedly misbehaves with girls during yoga exam

Rohtak college administrator allegedly misbehaves with girls during yoga exam
Rohtak: Students at a Rohtak college have accused college authorities of humiliating women students by ordering them to assume an upside-down yoga position when many of them were wearing sarees. The students allege that when one of them, Rakesh Ranjan Tripathi, objected, he was locked in a room, kicked and beaten with a stick and an axe by the chairman of the college.

Mr Tripathi, a 22-year-old Bachelor of Education (B Ed) student, has injuries to his arm and head and alleges that Joginder Dalal, the chairman of Rohtak's IPS College of Education, Research and Training beat him with "anything he could lay his hands on." His fault - he objected, he says, to the college asking the students for Rs 10000 each over the tuition fee of Rs 45000 to ensure they passed a yoga practical exam.

"We had already paid the Rs 45000 in tuition fee. They then asked for Rs 10000 for these practical exams," he said. Those who refused to pay up were asked to do the sheershasan - which entails standing on the head. The angry students claim that young women wearing sarees were asked to do that too.

Three day after Mr Tripathi was allegedly beaten, the police have now registered a case against Mr Dalal and three others. But no one has been arrested yet and the students have also alleged that the police is protecting the college authorities.

Geeta Bhukkal,  Haryana's Education Minister has assured that action will be taken against those involved in the matter.

Tension is reportedly running high at the campus. Angry students had blocked the Rohtak- Jind bypass on Saturday to protest. No official of the college was  available for comment.

The college authorities were not  available for comment.
