RPF man held for throwing boy out of moving train

Muzaffarpur: A day after the Bihar police arrested the Railway Police Force (RPF) constable Rameshwar Prasad, for allegedly throwing 13-year old hawker Shahabuddin off a running train on Thursday, because he refused to pay a bribe, the police say they will prosecute the cop swiftly.

The constable was arrested after the boy identified him at an identification parade, at a Muzaffarpur hospital on Saturday night, where he is recuperating after his left leg was amputated.

The boy comes from a poor family of six people, who can barely make ends meet.

While narrating his ordeal earlier, Shahbuddin said the constable knew he was travelling like most poor hawkers do, but he cornered him for a bribe. Further, his inability to pay the bribe made the constable angry.

"The RPF guy, the one with a black cap, came to me and asked for money. I said, take the money. Then he asked me for my license. I didn't have one. Next, he pushed me off the train," said Shahbuddin.
