New Delhi: The Narendra Modi government is all set to withdraw the cancellation of 26 prime plots allotted to organisations affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological mentor of the BJP.
The allotments had taken place between 1998 and 2004 and were subsequently cancelled by the UPA government.
The Urban development ministry has now moved a cabinet note to restore these plots, provided the organisations withdrew their plea against the cancellation in the Delhi High Court, sources said.
The government has decided to restore the plots after a two-member team found the reason for cancellation as unjustified.
Some of the organisations allotted land were Samarth Shiksha Samiti, Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Sewa Bharti and Swadeshi Jagran Foundation.
The UPA government had cancelled the allotment based on a one-man inquiry committee by Mr Yogesh Chandra, who had found violation of norms. The NDA government formed a two-member committee, which found the principle of natural justice not being followed.
