RSS holds nationwide protests today

Jaipur: The row over the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) link to the Ajmer blast is set to escalate as senior leader Indresh Kumar's name was included in the chargesheet linking him to the Ajmer blast. The RSS has termed it as a 'conspiracy' and is staging a country-wide protest against Congress party.

Indresh Kumar was termed as one of the masterminds of the Ajmer blast; however, the Sangh claims that the chargesheet neither presents any evidence nor makes any specific charges against him and it is an attempt by the state and the Centre to defame the RSS.

"They have accused him of holding a meeting about which Indresh ji has no knowledge. Then they ask why did he attend the meeting and claim he is guilty by association. But if guilt by association is enough to prove someone a criminal, what does the Congress have to say about the fact that Quatrocchi who spent half his life sitting at 10 Janpath?" RSS Spokesperson, Ram Madhav said.

But the state government maintains its stand on the issue. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot run government claims besides presiding over a meeting in Jaipur, Indresh Kumar also allotted tasks to all the key conspirators to carry out the blast.

Though, the Rajasthan Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) is yet to even question the RSS leader, the Gehlot government insists there's strong evidence to prove Indresh's involvement.

"Indresh is no political figure though he is a hardcore RSS leader. So why should we or the Rajasthan Police hatch a conspiracy against him? We have solid evidence to prove that Indresh was deeply involved in this case," said Shanti Dhariwal the state Home Minister.

Besides Indresh, four of the five people arrested in the Ajmer case have been linked to the RSS according to the ATS. Now, the BJP workers too have decided to join the protests, to be observed in all state headquarters, only intensifying the politics over the blast issue.
