RSS protests: An attempt to redeem its patriotic identity?

Bhopal: Is the RSS nationwide protest a plan hatched much before Indresh Kumar's name surfaced? Well, there is a lot to be read between the lines say political analysts.

For the first time since the Emergency in 1975 a nationwide protest has been launched by the Sangh Parivaar in Bhopal.

While, RSS leader Indresh Kumar being named in the Ajmer Blasts Case appears to be the trigger, sources say, the protest plan was formulated about a month ago when Rahul Gandhi equated the RSS with the banned terror outfit Students Islamic Movement of India(SIMI) calling both 'fanatical' and 'fundamentalists'.

''It's a political conspiracy to malign the organisation, to create confusion about it in the people,'' said Uma Shanker Gupta the Madhya Pradesh Home Minister.

As per the political analysts, the Sangh has planned this protest to revive the sagging morale of its cadre and redeem its patriotic identity. But even as the protest hits the streets, in its stronghold the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh, every second week a cadre is arrested or detained.

''The Sangh Parivar is agitated and confused as many of its members have become part of terror activities. Their protest is a cover-up act. They are trying to gain sympathy,'' said KK Mishra a Congress leader and spokesperson from the state.
