Pune:
Gajendra Singh, a proclaimed offender arrested for interrogation in the Ruchika Girhotra case, has been sent to judicial custody till January 25 by the Panchkula sessions court.
Gajendra Singh was arrested from Pune on Saturday night. Police said Gajendra had named Ruchika's brother Ashu Girhotra as an accomplice in car theft cases. The Haryana police have arrested him to interrogate him on why he named Ashu then.
Ruchika was molested by former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore in 1990. She and her family were then subjected to harassment allegedly at the instigation of Rathore to stop them from pursuing their complaint against him. The family alleges that this included arresting and torturing Ashu on false charges of car theft.
Three years later, in December 1993, Ruchika committed suicide.
