Chandigarh: The family of Ruchika Girhotra has moved a special CBI court today challenging the closure reports filed by the investigating agency. The report had given clean chit to accused SPS Rathore, Haryana's former Director General of Police, in cases related to tampering of Ruchika's post-mortem reports and torturing her brother, Ashu Girhotra in police custody.
The report said there was not enough evidence to prove the allegations. However, Anand Prakash - father of Ruchika's friend Aradhana Prakash and a co-complainant in the cases - has claimed that the closure report is not acceptable to the family.
The former Haryana top cop was convicted in 2010 of molesting the 13-year-old Ruchika Girhotra in Panchkula, near Chandigarh, in 1990. Ruchika was expelled from school and her brother was charged with theft. She committed suicide three years later, allegedly because Mr Rathore persecuted her family after she filed a police complaint against him.
The court has issued notice the investigating agency, and asked to respond by October 4.
