Lucknow:
The BJP today attacked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over law and order in his state and alleged that ruling coalition legislators and their people were involved in criminal acts.
"His (Nitish's) needle is stuck on prohibition, whereas what he should be doing is put a check on crime," BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said in Lucknow.
"
Sharab ka nasha to band kar diya, satta ka nasha band kar ke dikhayen (he has managed to check the influence of liquor, let's see if he can check the influence of power)... legislators with the ruling coalition and their people are involved in criminal activities taking place in Bihar," Mr Hussain said.
"He is not able to take care of his own state but is giving sermons to others," Mr Hussain added.
At separate public meetings in Varanasi and Lucknow recently, Mr Kumar had given a call to implement prohibition in UP and indicated that it will be made an issue in 2017 assembly polls in UP by his party Janata Dal (United).
