Russian tourist murder: Two locals questioned
Panaji:

The Goa Police is questioning two locals in connection with the death of Elena Sukhanova, a 19-year-old Russian tourist whose body was found on railway tracks in Goa on May 8.

One of the locals being questioned is a waiter of a shack, with whom Elena may have been involved.

The police has been investigating whether the death was an accident or some foul play was involved. Elena's post mortem report is expected on Monday.

Meanwhile, a new video emerged on Sunday showing Elena entering the Sun City hotel with a 38-year-old Russian man on the night of May 7 - just hours before her death.

The Russian man is now being questioned hoping it may provide some clues on her death.

The hotel authorities have said about Elena that she went missing on May 3 and so they lodged a missing complaint with the local police. The Russian resurfaced on May 6, saying she wanted to extend her stay.

"She gave a statement to the police saying she loved Goa and it was a cool place and she also gave the hint that she was in love with someone here," said Debashish Chandra, general manager, Sun City Resort.

The Goa Police refuse to speak on record, but claim her death was an accident. They say she had boarded a train to Mumbai but must have fallen off. But this version leaves some unanswered questions.
