Sachin: A Billion Dreams Box Office: A still from the film
New Delhi:
Sachin: A Billion Dreams is doing a good job at the box office. Sachin Tendulkar's docu-drama has completed four days at the theatres and scored Rs 31.25 crore in terms of ticket sales, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted on Tuesday. Sachin: A Billion Dreams delivered its best performance on Sunday with Rs 10.25 crore. Saturday saw a box office number of Rs 9.20 crore while there is a noticeable dip in the footfalls on Monday. On opening day, Sachin Tendulkar's film had made a decent amount of Rs 8.60 crore, which was described as "impressive," by Mr Adarsh, considering the genre of the film. Sachin Tendulkar's film clashed with Johnny Depp's Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales on Friday.
Here's a detailed box office report of Sachin: A Billion Dreams. The film has clearly been showered with a lot of love.
On Friday, Sachin: A Billion Dreams joined Irrfan Khan's Hindi Medium at the theatres, which had released on May 19. Now, Sachin: A Billion Dreams, on its first week, and Hindi Medium, on its second, are almost at par. Irrfan's movie stands just a shade under Rs 40 crore.
Of Sachin: A Billion Dreams, Raja Sen writes in his review for NDTV that it is even more enjoyable because of its genre. "This is a documentary not merely about the man with that name, but one narrated by him, one where he tells his own story in his own words. It is not journalistic or incisive or probing. It feels, instead, intimate - as intimate as it can feel, anyway, for a film where an audience claps and cheers alongside those who clapped and cheered live, years ago. Which is to say: it is us today applauding in time with us yesterday," reads his review.
Directed by James Erskine, Sachin: A Billion Dreams also features Sachin's wife Anjali Tendulkar along with children Sara and Arjun. Sachin's fellow cricketers MS Dhoni and Virender Sehwag also have appearances in the movie.
