New Delhi: Under attack for his poor attendance in Rajya Sabha, cricketer-turned-lawmaker Sachin Tendulkar today attended the proceedings of the Upper House for the first time in the current session of Parliament.

He was present for two days during the previous part of the Budget Session from February 23 to March 16 also.

The ace cricketer attended the Rajya Sabha during Zero Hour and remained there for around 45 minutes attending the Question Hour also.

Mr Tendulkar was seated in his seat (number 103) and was seen interacting with social worker and fellow member Anu Aga, besides a few others.

He had come under criticism from his fellow members in the House of Elders last year when they had pointed to his long absence, along with that of actor Rekha.

Some members had also alleged earlier that celebrities were "insulting" the House by not attending it.

Mr Tendulkar, who turned 43 in April this year, was nominated to the Upper House in April 2012.

As per Article 104 of the Constitution, if a member is absent from either House of Parliament for a period of 60 days then the seat is considered vacant.
