Sachin after being sworn-in
- Thank you for having faith and bestowing this honour on me
- Cricket has given me so many things and I always wanted to give something back
- With nomination, I am in a position to help not only cricket but other sports
- I will try my best to help other sports; I believe there will be few obstacles on the way.
- I need help from fellow Parliamentarians, the administrators, the media...
- I will be happy if I am remembered as someone who contributed to all sports in India, rather than just cricket statistics...
- I am a nominee, I did not go to anyone that I want to be a Rajya Sabha MP
- It is an honour and I accept that with respect.
- I am here because of my cricket
- My focus will be on cricket and as and when, there is time , I will look at things and see how I can help not only cricket but all other sports
