Chandigarh:
Captain Amrinder Singh, who was ousted as Punjab Congress president yesterday, has told NDTV, "I could have made some suggestions on my replacement, which could have been better for the state."
Mr Singh, a former Chief Minister, was replaced as head of the Congress' Punjab unit by Pratap Singh Bajwa. Commenting on his future plans, Mr Singh said, "The Congress president has asked me to meet her, which I will do. Let us see what happens."
A change in leadership was expected after the Congress was defeated by the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance in Assembly elections last year. The decision seems to have been precipitated by the Congress' loss in the recent Moga by-poll. Its legislator had quit on the eve of the election and re-contested as an Akali candidate.
