Etawah:
The 45-year-old son of a Samajwadi Party (SP) leader allegedly committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance, police said today.
It was Amar Chand, son of Minister of State Ram Sewak Yadav, who allegedly took his own life by consuming poison yesterday at his home in Gangapura village in Basrehar area in Etawah district, Circle officer AK Dixit said.
He was rushed to the hospital, where he died during the treatment, Mr Dixit said.
Ram Sewak Yadav has the rank of a Minister of State in the Akhilesh Yadav-led government and is also the Chairman of Cane Development Institute.
SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and senior party leaders have condoled Mr Chand's death.
SP National General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav also visited the aggrieved family to pay his respects.
