Samajwadi Party Legislator's Brother Allegedly Kills Man In Road Rage

Gonda, Uttar Pradesh: A Samajwadi Party (SP) legislator's brother allegedly shot dead a man following a quarrel after their vehicles brushed against each other during overtaking near Tribhuvan Nagar in Dhanepur area, police said today.

The incident occurred on Saturday night when some people were returning from a marriage function and their vehicle hit the car of Annu Paswan, who is the brother of the ruling SP legislator from Balrampur Sadar, Jagram Paswan.

Police said both the sides got into a heated exchange of words and in a fit of rage Annu Paswan allegedly fired at 40-year-old Jairam Yadav, who died on the spot.

While Annu Paswan fled from the spot, his brother Pappu and a relative, Angad, went home in another car which they allegedly smashed to show that they were attacked, police said.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Annu Paswan, Pappu and Angad.

Police have seized the vehicle and are trying to apprehend the accused who are absconding, Superintendent of Police Pradeep Kumar Yadav said.

Meanwhile, demanding immediate arrest of the accused and compensation for victim's family, locals blocked the Lucknow-Gonda highway. However, police reached the spot soon and pacified the protesters.
