BJP spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak.
Lucknow:
BJP today alleged that Samajwadi Party workers attacked mediapersons who had gone to cover the death of a boy in celebratory firing in Shamli district, saying it was a "planned" assault which indicated how much "anarchy" prevailed in Uttar Pradesh.
"Assault on mediapersons in Balrampur and Shamli indicate that SP men are attacking them in a planned manner," BJP spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak said.
Reporters of a prominent news channel, who went to cover the death of a child in celebratory firing, were misbehaved with, held captive, and all the pictures were deleted under instructions of a ruling party leader, he alleged.
Following the intervention of the party's top brass, the journalists were released, but the administration was yet to take action against errant SP workers, Mr Pathak said.
An eight-year-old boy was killed in celebratory firing by SP workers after the victory of the party candidate in local body polls at Kairana town in Shamli district.
Such incidents indicated how much anarchy prevailed in the state, the BJP spokesperson said and asked "Doesn't the CM have facts and information with him and if he has, then why is it being overlooked."
He demanded strict action against the guilty.
