Mumbai/New Delhi: A Mumbai court today sent Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, who was arrested in an alleged land scam case, to four days' custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Mr Raut was arrested at midnight following a day of search and questioning at his house after he skipped summons by the probe agency twice.
Mr Raut, 60, alleged he was being targeted by the Centre to weaken Uddhav Thackeray's faction. Mr Thackeray, who heads the Shiv Sena, visited Mr Raut's residence today and met his family.

"Must Be Based On Proofs": BJP's Devendra Fadnavis On Sanjay Raut's Arrest
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said the Enforcement Directorate's action against Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut seems to be based on certain proofs. "The ED is a national probe agency. It must have taken action against Raut based on documents and proofs. I would not comment on this issue further. His arrest and other related issues will be discussed in the court," said Mr Fadnavis.

"Vendetta Politics": Sanjay Raut's Lawyer To Court
The lawyer representing Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut told the court the allegation were part of vendetta politics. "On Sunday morning, his freedom was snatched. He wasn't allowed to leave even though he was arrested only in the night," he said. The lawyer said Mr Raut is suffering from heart-related ailments and therefore should not be interrogated till late night. The Enforcement Directorate said they interrogate only till 10 pm.
