Kolkata: Trinamool Congress general secretary Mukul Roy, who was asked by CBI to appear before it in connection with Saradha chitfund probe has left back for Delhi on Thursday.
"I am the general secretary of All India Trinamool Congress. I am going to sit at my office in Delhi," he told reporters before his departure to the Capital.
After returning to Kolkata on Wednesday he had said, "I was in Delhi. I have come back. I will contact them (CBI). I will certainly inform when and what time I will go. I will also talk to our party leadership."
Mr Roy had sought 15 days extension of time to appear before the central agency in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam probe on Wednesday.
Speaking to the Press Trust of India on Wednesday night, Mr Roy said "I had confirmed to CBI while I was Delhi that I would appear before it. But at the time, by-poll to two seats in West Bengal had not been announced.
"Since I am a key functionary of the party and would be pre-occupied with the by-election, I have sought 15 days time from CBI," he had said.
The senior TMC leader had also said that he would "cooperate with the CBI in its investigation."
The special crime branch of the CBI had stated that his plea for that extension would not be granted.
CBI had on Monday asked Mr Roy to appear before it when he was in Delhi. The by-election to Bongaon parliamentary constituency and Krishnagar assembly seat were announced by the Election Commission on Tuesday.
