Kolkata: Employees of Saradha group today filed a second police complaint against Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh, alleging that they are not been paid their salaries.
The complaint was filed by workers of a Bengali newspaper published by Saradha. On Thursday, employees of another Saradha venture, Channel 10, had filed a case against Mr Ghosh and others. They alleged they had not been paid for months and the company did not deposit their contributions to the provident fund.
Saradha group's chit fund business has gone bust, leaving thousands of depositors in West Bengal bankrupt. Its chief, Sudipta Sen, went missing for days and was arrested from Kashmir earlier this week.
Mr Ghosh was Group CEO of Saradha's media interests but insists he was just a "salaried employee" who had nothing to do with the company's chit fund business. He says he is ready for any probe and will resign from the Rajya Sabha if held guilty in the chit fund scam.
The Kolkata police said it is investigating the case filed against Mr Ghosh by the Channel 10 workers. "Whatever is needed for the sake of investigation will be done," Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pallab Kanti Ghosh told the Press Trust of India.
Mr Ghosh says he was only responsible for editorial content of the channel. "I am ready to face any investigation. I was not the owner. Finance and accounts were not under me. Attempts are being made to tarnish my image," the Press Trust of India quoted him as saying.
