Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday condoled the death of over 100 people in a train accident in Kanpur.
In a statement, Mr Sonowal said he was pained by the loss of so many lives due to the derailment of the Indore-Patna Express train in Kanpur on Sunday.
"I wish speedy recovery of the injured," he said.
In the worst rail accident in recent years, over 100 passengers were killed and more than 200 injured, nearly half of them grievously, when 14 coaches of the Indore-Patna Express derailed near here in Kanpur rural district early today due to suspected rail fracture.
The Chief Minister also condoled the death of four youths in a train accident in Assam's Biswanath district on Sunday.
"I am deeply saddened by the death of four boys in a rail accident at Borgang in Biswanath district," he said.
