SC panel to inspect Mayawati's park
New Delhi:

There could be more trouble for UP Chief Minister Mayawati, as the Central empowered committee of the Supreme court is due to visit a memorial park being constructed in Noida, on the outskirts of Delhi on Thursday.

Several residents had approached the court accusing the state government of cutting more than 6000 trees to make way for statues of Mayawati and Kanshi Ram.

According to an estimate, the memorial is being built for more than 500 crores and is also adjacent to a national bird sanctuary.

Barely a month ago a team of the central environment ministry had also inspected the site and found several violations. The state government is yet to reply to the ministry.
