Panaji:
The first witnesses are expected to depose in the children's court in Goa two years after British teenager Scarlett Keeling was found on Goa's popular Anjuna Beach.
The two accused are now facing trial for rape and murder. The case first hit the headline for the shoddy investigation as the police tried to pass off the case as a matter of drowning.
It was only after Scarlett's mother Fiona insisted on a second autopsy that the case took a dramatic turn.
The two accused Samson D'Souza and Placido Carvalho are out on bail.
Scarlett's mother Fiona is expected to attend the trial though she is not expected to be present in court today.
