The principal of an Odisha school has been suspended after he mistakenly made arrangements to condole the death of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the most respected leader of the BJP.
On Friday, the principal, who was away on a work trip allegedly telephoned the government school and informed officials that Mr Vajpayee had died. He asked teachers to hold a condolence meeting and students were given the day off.
He has apologized for his mistake.
Mr Vajpayee, 90, a towering political icon, has been unwell in recent years; he lives with his family in Delhi.
