Ambala:
A primary school in Ambala, 2 km away from the IOCL oil dump, has been shifted to another location after oil was found seeping from the oil dump.
Students complained of discomfort and nausea, even residents living close to the oil dumps are now demanding that the oil storage facility be shifted to a place away from residential areas.
The local administration has ordered an inquiry and has asked IOCL and HP to check the leakages. The Deputy Commissioner says if they fail to rectify the problem, action will be taken against them. The oil company officials were not available to comment on the issue.
"The oil leak has affected the air and water in the area. We have found patches of oil in a block. We are trying to investigate whether the oil is from the depot," said Sameer Pal Saro, Deputy Commissioner, Ambala.
