A class 12th student alleged that she was molested by her teacher in Pauri district's Lansdowne. According to the police, when the girl informed the principal about it, he tried to cover up the incident.
Circle Officer J R Joshi said a case was registered on Wednesday against the teacher on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim.
The girl, a student at a government school, alleged that the commerce teacher, Afzal Mehboob Khan, molested her after shutting her in a room at the school on September 19. However, she managed to run out.
She later reported the matter to the principal but instead of acting against the teacher he allegedly tried to bury the case prompting the girl to lodge a complaint with the police, the Circle Officer said.
The police official said the accused teacher would be arrested soon. Upset over the incident, locals demand stern action against the teacher.
